Collette Divitto – My Journey Is Just Beginning

ABOUT ME

MY STORY

All my life people around me, except my family, had very low expectations of me. I have a brother and a sister younger than me and all I wanted was the same life and opportunities they had. I could not understand why it was always a battle for my mother to get me included and accepted in the same programs that were available to everyone else. Watching and listening to her in action fighting for her daughter constantly made me wonder why I was always judged “unable“ rather than given a chance. My Mother’s relentless passion to create a full life and inclusion for me taught me that life for me was not going to be easy and that I would have to work hard every day to prove myself to be accepted and have the same opportunities as others. That is when my journey started.

YOU DESERVE THE BEST FOR YOU

When I was younger trying to prove myself and show people what I can do all the time was exhausting and I often thought about giving up my dreams in life. My mother could see how defeated I would feel at times and she would say, “Collette you deserve the best, don’t you think so”. And of course, I would agree,  yes I do deserve the best. So, my Mom said then you need to say it to yourself daily.  I started to do that each day. “I deserve the best for me. I deserve the best for me” Soon it became my energy and path to creating the best for me.

MY STORY IS JUST BEGINNING

I am a founder and CEO of two companies, Collettey’s Cookies, and Collettey’s Leadership. I run my cookie company and create jobs for people with challenges, and I have sold over 550k cookies since 2017. I ship all over the US and Canada and I started my Leadership Nonprofit so I could mentor people with and without disabilities.

I teach Entrepreneurial Classes, Career Discovery and A Pathway To Total Independence. I also speak all over the world and run a baking show on YouTube along with writing my own blogs. My life has been documented in a TV series called “Born For Business “ which can be found on Peacock and Crave live-streaming networks.

My dream is to become a well-known national brand (like Tate’s and Mrs. Fields), to have my own Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, and to continue creating jobs for people with disabilities and lower their unemployment rate, which is a crisis for people like me. 82% of people with disabilities that are very able and wanting employment so desparately and to be a valuable entity to a company are being rejected.
